The 2025 Local Government Elections in Colombo and across Sri Lanka take place on May 6, 2025, starting at 7:00 a.m. and continuing until 4:00 p.m. Voting occurs at 13,759 polling centers island-wide, including in Colombo. Over 17 million registered voters (17,156,338) are eligible to vote in the elections for 339 local government bodies. A record 75,589 candidates from 49 recognized political parties and 257 independent groups contest for 8,287 seats.
