One week before Chinese Lunar New Year The Temple of Thai Kak Sie in Semarang, Central Java handed out more than 1,200 charitable gifts to Chinese elders around the Semarang City. In advance of the start of the Chinese Lunar New Year 2567, The year of the monkey which will commence on February 8th,2016 ahead. This annual charity always held to help Chinese elder community which underprivileged . The gifts given out at the temple to locals of Chinese origin are called "angpao" and consist of a red envelope containing 200 thousand rupiahs ($14 USD) and a box of food.
