Nepal's Red God Returns Back To Patan

Devotees are carrying the chariot of Lord Macchindranath, also known as the Red God, as he makes his way to Macchindra Bahal in Patan from Bungmati, in the ancient city of Lalitpur. This procession is part of the tradition where the deity resides in Bungmati for half of the year and in Patan for the other half. Following Nepal's longest chariot festival of Rato Macchindranath, the lord of rain and harvest, the idol will be taken to Bungmati for rest and will later be brought back to Patan.
