Bidya Sundar Shakya elected Kathmandu mayor
New mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya celebrates after winning on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Bidya Sundar Shakya of CPN-UML has been elected mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City beating Raju Raj Joshi of Nepali Congress (NC) by over 22,000 votes. Shakya ssecured 68,961 votes while Joshi received 48,198 votes. Likewise, Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha of NC has been elected deputy mayor defeating Raja Ram Shrestha of Rastriya Prajatantra Party who was supported by UML. (Photo by Narayan Maharjan/NurPhoto)
