Absence of outdoor entertainment, extracurricular activities and lack of ideal parenting have been blamed by researchers for many children of affluent urban families getting addicted to internet and mobile phone applications, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on May 2, 2018. According to researchers at home and abroad parents allow their children to browse on the Internet and mobile phone applications for prolonged periods with little realization that they could slowly get addicted to the habits.They compared the habits with addictions to drugs and alcohol.A joint study of Swansea and Milan Universities revealed that when Internet addicts go offline or stop using computers, they experience withdrawal symptoms just like drug addicts.Bangladesh’s National Institute of Mental Health professor Md Faruq Alam said, ‘Internet addiction leaves adverse impacts on physical and mental health of the users.
