Chhat Puja Celebration
Chhath Puja a Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun God or Surya. It is performed to thank Sun God for sustaining life on earth. Some Indian Hindu female devotee prostrates themselves on the road as they offer prayers to the sun during The Chhath Festival while making his way to a water body in Kolkata on 29th October 2014. Chhat festival is dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun), Agni (fire) and Lord Kartikeya. People undertake this prayer for the well being of the family, it is believed that people get their wishes fulfilled if they observe Chhat Puja. Chhat is the only time when the setting sun as opposed to its rising is celebrated for its glory as the cycle of birth starts with death.
