Preventing Sex Abuse Campaign In Indonesia

Employees of PT. Indonesia Commuter Line Trains (KCI) provided counseling to passengers regarding sexual harassment during a campaign to prevent sexual harassment in commemoration of International Women's Day at Sudirman train station, Jakarta, March 12, 2019. Based on data from the Women's National Commission, there were 406,178 cases of sexual violence in Indonesia throughout 2018, and 394 of them are sexual harassment in public spaces, including in public transportation facilities. PT. Indonesia Commuter Line Trains internally noted that there were 34 cases of sexual abuse that occurred on the train or in the station area throughout 2018. Meanwhile, based on a poll conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Jakarta ranked 9th as the most dangerous big city for women in the world . (Photo by Aditya Irawan/NurPhoto)
