The Damaged Cemetery Aftermath Of The Storm In Halkidiki

The damaged cemetery of Nea Plagia in Chalkidiki, Macedonia, Greece on 11 July 2019. The storm caused damages in many graves in the graveyard with many fallen trees. The aftermath of the devastated popular summer destination area of Halkidiki in Greece that is in State of Emergency after a heavy and deadly flash storm killed 7 people, 6 tourists from Russia, Czech Republic and Romania and a local fisherman on July 10, 2019. The storm had a duration of 20 min with heavy wind gusts reaching a speed of more than 100km/h. There was an electricity outbreak that still is not restored and fixed, with many hotels having no electricity. The army helped with generators. The area is trying to recover as Nea Plagia, Potidea and Sozopoli in Chalkidiki are famous summer destinations for holidays. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
