Ratha Yatra Celebrated In Rotterdam
July 21st, Rotterdam. The Festival of the Chariots, also known as Ratha Yatra, is a timeless festival, originating in the ancient city of Jagannatha Puri in India. For thousands of years, people have been traveling to Jagannatha Puri in India to participate in the oldest Festival in the world called Ratha-yatra, "the Wagon Festival". Now Ratha-yatra is held every year in dozens of cities around the world. The Ratha Yatra festival has become a common sight in most major cities of the world since 1968 through the ISKCON, Hare Krishna movement. In Rotterdam, the Bhakti Yoga Center Foundation is organizing the annual Ratha Yatra festival in the center of Rotterdam in collaboration with the Gau Seva Dham Foundation. Opening the ceremony, was the Holy Indian man, Sripad Bhaktivedanta Muni Maharaj. (Photo by Romy Arroyo Fernandez/NurPhoto)
