Gold Treasure In Bulgaria

The archaeologist Hristo Kuzov shows golden coins, discovered during excavations this season in Ancient Marcianopolis, the present town of Devnya, about 30 km from Varna. Bronze and gold coins are found. The gold coins found are 16 in number. They are dated from the time of Emperor Theodosius II (408-450) and his wife Elijah Evdokia. The face of Emperor Theodosius II is engraved on 14 of the coins, on one of them is Elijah Evdokia and one is with Emperor Valentian III, the Emperor of Western Roman Empire, and on some of the coins are engraved the two Emperors - Emperor Theodosius II and Emperor Valentian III, shown together on the throne.
