Murikandy Pillayar Hindu Temple In Sri Lanka
Ancient trees grow from inside the buildings and exit the roof of the Murikandy Pillayar Hindu temple (Murukandy temple) in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. This famous Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesh and is a place that all travelers and those that drive past stop, as it is believed that by breaking a coconut and offering prayers at this temple that God protect them while traveling and provide them with a safe journey. This has been the practice from time immemorial and still followed today by all who travel along the A-9 Road. (Photo by Creative Touch Imaging Ltd./NurPhoto)
