Fire Victims Struggle With Homelessness, Unemployment Amid COVID-19 In Philippines
Residents take shelter in a crowded school that serves as an evacuation center in Manila, Philippines on April 22, 2020. On April 18, a fire razed about 500 homes in a slum area in Tondo district in Manila. Many of the fire victims struggle with unemployment as the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) is still in place in several areas in the Philippines including Manila to curb the spread of COVID-19. About a hundred families share a common area in this school, making social distancing a tough task to maintain.(Photo by Lisa Marie David/NurPhoto)
