Rosh Hashanah Celebrations In Dynow

Orthodox Jews praying on the last day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, on the bank of the San river in Dynow. Over 150 Orthodox Jews from all over the world participated in Dynów in the Rosh Hashanah celebration (year 5781 in the Jewish calendar). Another purpose of the pilgrimage for many, was the visit to the resting place of Cwi Elimelech Spira (1783–1841), a famous Hasidic rabbi in Poland, and the 81st anniversary of the first mass murder of Jews by the German Nazis. During the German invasion of Poland, in September 1939, Wehrmacht, Gestapo and Einsatzkommando soldiers murdered about 200 Jewish civilians in Dynow on the first day of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah).
