Faces in Black Oxide
Bangladeshi factory workers work at a manual black oxide factory in Gazipur district on 6 April 2014. All the workers in this factory come from northern part of the country and they are of 15 to 18 years of age. They work 12 to 14 hours a day, six days a week and earn only Tk.2000 to Tk.3000 (1 USD = 78 taka) a month. The manufacture of black iron oxide is considered to be one of the most hazardous occupations in Bangladesh. Workers work in extreme conditions without any safety measures such as safety goggles, face masks, gloves, work boots and so on. (Photo by Probal Rashid/NurPhoto)
