The Army observes Mahashivaratri as Army Day each year. On this occasion, a special parade, cannon salute, military drills, martial arts demonstrations, and cultural performances are presented at the Army Pavilion (Army Manch). The Nepali Army plays a significant role throughout history in safeguarding Nepal's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The present organizational structure of the Army dates back to 1819 BS.
