Twenty-two-story building collapsed during a major fire in Largo do Paissandu, in downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 1st May 2018. A neighbouring building also caught fire in the first three floors, but not at risk of collapse. The Evangelical Lutheran Church, which is next to the burning building, also burned down and part of the structure collapsed. According to the latest information from the Fire Department, three people are missing. Earlier, the Fire Department reported the death of a homeless man and the disappearance of two other people. The Fire Department now work on extinction of fires.
