Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 17th December 2015: A new icon in the Port Area, the Science museum - Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow) explores the possibilities for the construction of the future. To seal the date, more than 36 hours of non-stop cultural atractions will happen in Praça Mauá, in front of the new museum. Built in Porto Maravilha, the Museum of Tomorrow - designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava over the Guanabara Bay is opened since 17th december. In the first weekend of operation, the Museum of Tomorrow will open with free entrance to the public. After that, the tickets will be only BRL 10,00 (Near US$ 2,50 in actual cotation). Museum of Tomorrow's internal architecture was designed to take advantage of natural sunlight and save electricity. With interactive artworks equipped with audio and video effects, the museum takes the visitor to reflect on the future. Several of the interactive audiovisual works of art provides data on sustainability, environment, oceans, global warming and other environmental aspects. In an innovative system, the air conditioning's system of Museum of Tomorrow captures the polluted waters of Guanabara Bay and after basic treatment it is used to cool the machines and then is returned to the sea with better quality than it entered.

Another consequence of the war. People looking into rubbish for basic needs like toys for kids, lamp, etc. On April 6 2015, we visit Krasnogorovka. What we saw is the evident beginning of a serious humanitarian crisis. People living in unhealthy conditions, surround by mountains of rubbish, deficient water system, no windows, electricity, etc. We visit the city with the help of Pastor Vladimir Ivanov, director of the NGO « Good News Church ». Krasnogorovka is under control of Ukrainian army and it is a small suburb west of the separatist stronghold city of Donetsk. If the city is calmed, population on the limit of the town have to be aware of the presence of snipers 800 meters away in the separatist zone. Pastor Ivanov go to Krasnogorovka once a week to bring food, clothes, candy for kids in a city that is let to itself. We saw elderly people starving from having not eat for several days. I even spoke to a mother of three children who has absolutely any income beside the humanitarian aids that the Pastor and other donors are bringing to the town. The photos of this reportage show the living condition of a population who already suffer a lot from a war that no one can predict when it is going to end.

A migrant prepares dinner made of very basic ingredients.. Calais, France, June 2014. For the last 20 years the French city of Calais, with links from the European continent to the United Kingdom through its port has become the last milestone for migrants fleeing wars, oppressive regimes and economic depressions around the world. The migrants, after years spent travelling from their home countries such as Mali, Sudan, Eritrea, Afghanistan Iran, and most recently Syria, smuggle themselves inside container trucks that from Calais will hopefully take them to the United Kingdom. Their dangerous journey is made even grimmer by the controls carried out by French authorities, which only contribute to worsen the migrants already precarious living conditions. With no sanitation facilities and only being fed once a day by volunteer organisations many fall in despair and commit suicide or opt for taking unnecessary risks eventually sustaining severe injuries or even disappearing without leaving any trace behind.

A woman do the dishes at People's Cup occupation in Itaquera district on May 17, 2014 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In May 2014, taking advantage of the spotlight on the World Cup, more than 4,000 homeless families occupied over 150 kilometers of unused land, focusing attention on their living conditions. Although close to half a million U S dollars has been spent in the construction of a new stadium, Arena Itaquera, and approximately thirty percent of it's cost has been granted by Sao Paulo in the form of tax incentives, part of Itaquera's impoverished population still lack basic infrastructure in the areas of housing and sanitation.
