A young couple seats outside a small mausoleum, in Manila North Cemetery, where they live among the tombs. CreditThe Manila North Cemetery, is one of the oldest and largest cemetery in the Philippines. Its elaborate mausoleums and endless rows of humble, stacked tombs are home to an estimated one million of the dead, and also a few thousand of the living inside the cemetery. Some of them serve as caretakers of the mausoleums where they also stay to survive. Other informal settlers often serve as informal tour guides, bringing visitors to tombs of famous people and discussing the oral history of the area. Others take advantage of the quantity of visitors during the Allhallowtide holiday, setting up stalls to sell drinks and snacks, and providing visitors other services like renting out their toilets. Male worker is stacked up many Oaks high in the charcoal dome / Kampung Keluat, Kelantan / Malaysia. *360 hours of waiting. 50 Cent's happy. Charcoal needs 360 hours to be a final product. A process starts a selection of a good quality of oak then gather them into a charcoal dome and leave a small hole on it and closed the dome for burning oaks for 15 days. After about 15 days, the smell of oak burning is not spicy anymore and like a herbal smell then this is a sign the charcoal is ready. Blocked all hole on the dome and wait another one more day. All process is completed and amazing point is all process is done my handicraft. It's a hard work. You may can't believe a price of one pack of charcoal is 50 cents (RM 2)only. The charcoal maker blame that the market price is not enough to compensate their hard working however they are appreciated that they can still sell charcoal to market and earning money for their family. Laborers load sacks of paddy onto a truck in Sudurpaschim, Nepal, on March 18, 2026. Farmers and local vendors in the Terai region report large quantities of unsold paddy, citing reduced demand in the domestic market. They allege that the increasing import of low-cost rice from India, often polished and rebranded by major distributors, has impacted local sales, forcing small traders to vacate storage space for the next harvest.
