A worker covers a structure with plaster of Paris before manufacturing a prosthetic limb for Pappu Sarnakar, a forty-two-year-old three-wheeler driver, as he waits for new prosthetic limbs inside the Rehabilitation & Research Centre, a unit of Mahavir Seva Sadan, in Arambag on the outskirts of Kolkata, India, on November 7, 2024. From the time a patient arrives and is examined by professionals, it takes less than a day to manufacture a prosthetic limb and hand. These are handed over for free to victims of accidents and those who are handicapped by birth for their new life.
