A Eupterote mollifera caterpillar, commonly known as the Moringa hairy caterpillar, is seen covered in a white fungal growth after being infected by Isaria fungi on a Moringa tree (Moringa oleifera) trunk in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on October 29, 2024. Isaria, a genus of fungi primarily in the family Clavicipitaceae (or Cordycipitaceae, according to some classifications), infects insects by penetrating their cuticle with enzymes. Once inside, the fungus proliferates in the insect's haemocoel, spreading mycelia through the haemolymph and tissues. This fungal invasion eventually drains the insect's nutrients, destroys its tissues, and releases toxins, leading to the insect's death.

Papilio polytes, commonly known as the Common Mormon, is a species of swallowtail butterfly widely distributed across Asia. This butterfly is renowned for the mimicry displayed by its numerous forms. The caterpillars of the Common Mormon can negatively impact crop yields. Interestingly, these caterpillars resemble bird droppings while resting on leaves, which helps them avoid predators. However, they are heavily parasitized by chalcidoid wasps, with over a hundred tiny wasps eventually emerging from each pupa. On September 4, 2024, in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, a tiny Common Mormon caterpillar was observed feeding on plant leaves, nearly camouflaged as it blended with the branches.

A view of a giant Turkish Cypriot flag on Mount Pentadachtilos in the Turkish-occupied territory of the divided capital Nicosia. Cyprus, Sunday, September 1, 2024. Efforts are underway to hold a meeting between UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides and Turkish leader Ersin Tatar in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September, and it is possible that the situation will develop in such a way that ''eventually something can be done,'' informed sources told KYPE.

Enthusiasts are wearing replica WWII military uniforms and driving a jeep in front of Utah Beach, near Sainte-Mere-Eglise, northwestern France, on June 5, 2024, as part of the ''D-Day'' commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the World War II Allied landings in Normandy. John Steele is hanging helplessly from the church steeple before being taken prisoner by German troops, after his parachute entangles on the structure as he lands on D-Day in the early hours of June 6, 1944. The D-Day ceremonies on June 6 this year are marking the 80th anniversary since the launch of 'Operation Overlord', a vast military operation by Allied forces in Normandy, which is turning the tide of World War II, eventually leading to the liberation of occupied France and the end of the war against Nazi Germany.
