Activists from Extinction Rebellion are standing in front of the Capitole in Toulouse, France, on May 4, 2024, holding placards that read 'Stop A69, another way is possible', 'No fuel in our schools', and 'No more vegetables for our kids'. Extinction Rebellion Toulouse is organizing an action called 'Hello Darkness' in front of the town hall, the Capitole, to protest against the controversial A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. They are also protesting against the construction of several bitumen plants near schools and organic vegetable producers along the A69. Some activists have fake bitumen on them to symbolize the pollution from asphalt production. Police have intervened and arrested five people. The main association 'La Voie est Libre' is demanding that construction of the highway be halted until all judicial decisions are made. The expropriations for farmers have not been resolved. Opponents of the project argue that reprofiling the N126 would be sufficient for the 6,000 vehicles expected per day and would cost much less. The A69 highway is projected to cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, excluding inflation) for 54 kilometers, and its construction would destroy habitats for over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land.

Extinction Rebellion - Toulouse is currently organizing an action called 'Hello Darkness' in front of the town hall of Toulouse, the Capitole, to protest against the controversial A69 highway between Toulouse and Castres. They are also protesting against the construction of several bitumen plants along the A69 near schools and organic vegetable producers. Some activists are covering themselves with fake bitumen to symbolize the pollution caused by asphalt production. Police have intervened and arrested five people. The main association 'La Voie est Libre' (meaning 'The Way is Free'), along with other opponents, is demanding that the construction of the highway be halted until all judicial decisions regarding the matter are made. The issue of expropriations for farmers has not been resolved. Opponents of the project argue that the reprofiling of the N126 would be sufficient for the anticipated 6,000 vehicles per day and would cost significantly less money. The A69 highway is projected to cost EUR512 million (in 2018 euros, not adjusted for inflation) for 54 kilometers, and its construction would result in the destruction of over 100 protected species and 400 hectares of agricultural land. A man prepares offering during Puhun Pusaka Karatuan procession on 19 May, 2021 at Goa Pawon, Gunung Masigit, West Bandung Regency, Indonesia. "Puhun Pusaka Karatuan" is a process of asking for blessings from the ancestors as well as procession for handing over weapons (heirlooms) to their descendants. According to the elder of Goa Pawon or Pawon Cave in english, H. Elan Sumarna, in ancient times Goa Pawon was used as a place of pilgrimage for pencak silat warriors. To master the science of pencak silat the descendants of previous ancestors must be trained to truly master their knowledge. When it is felt that they are able to use women's equipment as martial arts weapons, the ritual of handing over the heirloom is carried out. Now this tradition is trying to be preserved again by Sundanese cultural observers such as Nanu Munajar Dahlan.
