Papier-mache statues walk through the streets of Angono, Rizal, during the Higantes Festival grand parade on November 20, 2022. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the locals celebrate their town's festival for the first time. The Higantes, or papier-mache giants, were thought to have been created by local farmers during the Spanish colonization era as a form of protest against their landlords. The giant papier-mache puppets range in size from four to five feet in diameter and ten to twelve feet in height, and they can only be controlled from within.

Despite of Philippines' lag vaccination, some Filipinos are still not following the minimum health protocols to avoid the infection of COVID-19. For the time being, the country have done giving almost 4 million doses of vaccine with 950,000 fully vaccinated, equivalent only to 0.9% of population. As the Philippines are still fighting the pandemic, the country reported 3,972 new COVID-19 cases on May 25, 2021 with total of 1,188,672 cases and deaths of 20,019 since the pandemic hit the Philippines.
