A cowshed at the Nikitin kolkhoz, Ivanovka village, Azerbaijan. Ivanovka is a village with mainly Russian population which maintained last kolkhoz in Azerbaijan. Nikolay Nikitin, the head of the farm of that time, suggested to keep collective farming in the village as it was the most successful in the republic. Now the kolkhoz is named after Nikitin. The farm has more than 5 thousand hectares of area and grows wheat, barley, sunflower, peas, and grapes. There are cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens in the kolkhoz. There are also a small dairy factory and bakery. This farm became the reason for local people not to move to Russia as other Russians did. Another reason they stayed here is that the biggest part of the Russians in Ivanovka are Molokans, a separate religious group. Their ancestors migrated to this land in the middle of 19th century. (
