Legend holds that the Roman god Hercules stayed and slept in this cave before doing his 11th labour, (one of the 12 labours which King Eurystheus of Tiryns had given to him) which was to get golden apples from the Hesperides Garden.

Muslim man praying in the ancient Roman town of Volubilis in Meknes, Morocco, Africa. Volubilis is a partly excavated Roman city built in the 3rd century BC onwards as a Phoenician (and later Carthaginian) settlement. The site was excavated and revealed many fine mosaics, including some of the more prominent public buildings and high-status houses were restored or reconstructed. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site , listed for being 'an exceptionally well preserved example of a large Roman colonial town on the fringes of the Empire'.
