The bare body of a senior citizen is showing the marks of poison he intakes everyday. Gaighata, West Bengal, on India 2 April 2017. Gaighata, a village in north 24 parganas located near the Indo Bangladesh border is one of the highly arsenic affected areas of West Bengal. Almost all the water bodies of this area including tube wells produces arsenic contaminated water. Villagers are forced to use arsenic contaminated water for drinking purpose and for every other household chores. According to the WHO, drinking arsenic-rich water over a long period of time results in various health hazards including skin problems, skin cancer, cancer of bladder, kidney and lung besides other diseases. These people are also deprived from the medical facilities which has made their life worse. Recently some NGOs are providing fresh water to the villagers but the supply is far lower than the demand level as well.

The banner reads 'For the right to abort, here and there, our bodies, our rights'. For International Safe Abortion Day, hundreds of women and men take to the streets in Toulouse, France, on September 28, 2024, to raise awareness about safe abortion and contraception. Even if abortion is a right in numerous countries, in many of them, it is not an effective right due to difficult access to abortion or even sexual education. Protesters ask for more resources for 'planning familial', an association where girls and women can come with sexual problems or to be informed about their rights, such as the right to a safe abortion. They also march for gender equality and for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people.

ict is a major problem in Sri Lanka. A JCB dozer is digging a hole to bury the dead body of an elephant in Habarana, Sri Lanka, on May 20, 2023. The Sri Lankan wild elephant, scientifically known as Elephas maximus maximus, is reported to have over 7,000 across Sri Lanka, according to the Wildlife Department. Humans have been clearing forests and building settlements, resulting in the loss of elephants' habitats and frequent visits to elephant villages, creating an elephant-human conflict. In 2022, 433 elephant deaths and 145 human deaths will have been reported due to this problem, and from January 1 to April 25, 2023, 114 elephant deaths have been reported. The Wildlife Department has reported 34 elephant deaths from Anuradhapura district, 29 from Polonnaruwa district, and 19 from Eastern Province so far in 2023, and 36 people will have died due to elephant-human conflict in the same year. Sri Lankans have had a long relationship with elephants, taming and using them for cultural and religious activities since ancient times, as well as for war. Even today, elephants are widely used for Buddhist processions, such as the Kandy Dalada Perahera, and are beneficial for Sri Lanka's tourism industry, as many tourists come to see them. The human-elephant conflict is a major problem in Sri Lanka.

A young woman holds a placarddepicting Prime Minister Castex and reading 'If noone cans see the problem the, there is no problem'. More than 5000 protesters demonstrated for the 4th time for a protest against the so-called 'Global Security Law' bill promoted by French President Macron and his majority. The 'Global Security Law' bill will also forbid anyone to photograph or film police members if not flouted : transgressors could be condemned up to one year in jail and a €45.000 fine. The bill also plans to generalize facial recognition in pubic spaces as in China. The French Rights Defender, the French National Commission on Human Rights (administrative bodies) and the UN Human Rights body condemn the planned law saying that it will be a violation of internationals treaties signed and ratified by France, the Universal Human Rights Declaration, general principles of law, etc. They fear a chilling effect on people wanting to use their right to protest, right to personal privacy... and on journalists, photographers, videographers. The protest ended by skirmishes between protesters and riot police (CRS), Gendarmerie Mobile (military) and BAC (Anti Crime Unit)Toulouse. France. November 28th 2020.
