Acanthaspis is a genus of assassin bugs (Reduviidae), a family of true bugs, which are currently disguising themselves by attaching bits of debris to aid in camouflage. These predators are characterized by the presence of a very prominent 'beak', which they use to pierce the prey and inject saliva, thereby paralyzing them. The saliva helps in digesting the contents of the prey, after which the assassin bug sucks the contents, leaving behind an empty shell. This behavior is what gives them their name. If provoked, assassin bugs can bite humans, and their venomous bites are immediately and severely painful. This photo was taken on a wall at night in Tehatta, West Bengal, India on September 18th, 2022.

xA Venezuelan mother and her child receives some food from a local charity in the makeshift migrant camp along the highway leaving Bogota, Colombia on the 8th of June 2020. Many bugs are present at the camp which is the reason why the child in the image has bug bites all over her face. Around 600 people are here waiting for government to help them get them back to Venezuela. Without electricity, water or sanitary system, they are waiting for any type of help.

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys) is an insect in the family Pentatomidae, native to China, Japan, Korea, and other Asian regions. The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) was accidentally introduced to the United States in 1998. It is currently spreading throughout most of eastern and western North America, with the highest concentrations found in the Mid-Atlantic region. The BMSB is proving to be a nuisance for homeowners and can be devastating for farmers. It is feeding on a variety of plants, including fruit trees, ornamentals, and some crops. It is also entering houses in large numbers on warm fall days in search of overwintering sites. Adults are about 17 mm long and are shades of brown on both the upper and lower body surfaces. They are shield-shaped and almost as wide as they are long. The BMSB has piercing-sucking mouthparts and is feeding on fruits, seeds, stems, and leaves. It can switch hosts throughout the season, moving from plants with early-ripening fruits to those with late-ripening fruits. Most stink bugs do not bite, sting, or spread disease. The most harm most stink bugs cause is the ill-smelling substance they release as a defense tactic or if accidentally crushed. A Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is being observed sitting on potatoes and leaves of clover in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on April 2, 2024.

Tick bite on the forearm of a man in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on July 07, 2023. Experts predict bad year for ticks as disease-carrying bugs expand range in Canada. The prevalence of ticks that can carry Lyme disease is expected to be higher than ever in much of Canada this year, researchers say. Cases of the tick-borne disease increased in Canada by 150 per cent between 2020 and 2021, with almost 2,900 cases reported to the federal government last year. In Ontario, a 2019 University of Ottawa study found that one-third of black-legged ticks in the Ottawa region were carrying Lyme disease.

Giant water bug (Lethocerus indicus) or toe-biters is a genus of the hemipteran family Belostomatidae, native to South and Southeast Asia, as well as southeast China, the Ryukyu Islands, and New Guinea. It includes the largest true bugs which can exceed 12 cm (4.7 in) and nearly reach the length of some of the largest beetles in the world; distributed in tropical, subtropical, and temperate areas of the world. Giant water bugs are aggressive predators that stalk, capture, and feed on fish, snails, crustaceans, amphibians as well as baby turtles and water snakes. They strike, injecting venomous digestive saliva with their rostrum. Although their bite is excruciatingly painful, it is of no medical significance. This photo was taken from a dark place at night with the help of an electric torch at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 27/10/2021.
