A close-up of the Intuition Robotics ElliQ 3, or a similar collaborative social robot like the Samsung Ballie 2.0, is displayed on a modern wooden desk at the Smart Living pavilion during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on March 5, 2026. The compact tabletop robot, featuring a stylized smiling face on its 5.5-inch OLED display, is designed as an AI companion for health and wellness management. It is powered by the MediaTek MT8797 octa-core processor, optimized for low-power edge AI, allowing it to process natural language commands locally via the Gemini Nano model. The robot integrates a wide-angle 13-megapixel camera for gesture recognition, video calls, and fall detection within the home. Its hardware includes a far-field 3-microphone array, a high-fidelity 10W full-range speaker, and LED light rings that pulse in sync with its AI-driven expressions. The demonstration showcases the ElliQ 3 interacting with a visitor, highlighting its ability to connect with smart home devices, manage medication schedules, and provide cognitive stimulation using conversational AI.

The LG Uplus (LGU+) logo displays at the company's dedicated pavilion during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on March 5, 2026, where the South Korean operator unveils its future vision, ''Humanizing Every Connection.'' The exhibit centers on the global debut of ixi-O pro, an advanced evolution of their AI call agent powered by the LG EXAONE 3.0 large language model and optimized for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform to enable real-time, on-device voice phishing detection and context-aware call summaries. Additionally, the booth showcases the ''Sovereign AI Full-Stack'' solution, a collaborative hardware-software appliance developed with Furiosa AI and featuring the Renegade NPUs (Neural Processing Units), designed to allow enterprises to deploy secure, private AI networks without external cloud dependency. The display also highlights the ixi-Guardian security suite, which wins a 2026 GLOMO Award for its end-to-end protection of telecommunications AI agents.

Professor Robin Coningham, UNESCO Chair on Archaeological Ethics and Practice in Cultural Heritage at Durham University and co-director of the excavations, attends a press conference in Kathmandu, Nepal, on February 11, 2026. A collaborative team of national and international experts from the Department of Archaeology, Government of Nepal, Lumbini Development Trust, and Durham University's UNESCO Chair uncovers Nepal's first example of an apsidal Buddhist temple within the ancient city of Tilaurakot-Kapilavastu, one of the best-preserved Early Historic cities and hinterlands in South Asia. A clear category of temple in South Asia, they are called apsidal as they have a curved end wall that defines the religious focus of the monument, with an entrance platform at the other end. The earliest known examples are cut into rock, with later monuments constructed out of stone, timber, or brick. The monument revealed at Tilaurakot-Kapilavastu, the first discovered in Nepal, follows this exact layout but is unusual in its location. It is a rare example of an apsidal temple constructed within a city rather than in a separate religious complex. The newly discovered apsidal structure is built near the center of the city of Tilaurakot-Kapilavastu over the remains of the city's earlier palatial complex. This central walled complex defines an area of 100 by 100 meters through a massive brick wall measuring 1.5 meters wide. After its abandonment, the complex becomes a focus for veneration, with Buddhist monasteries built over its ruined monumental walls. It is within the courtyard of one of these monasteries that the apsidal temple is built, enshrining and respecting an earlier Buddhist stupa within the earlier monastery.
