Israel resumes intense strikes on the Gaza Strip on March 18, collapsing a truce with the Palestinian Hamas movement brokered by the US, Egypt, and Qatar that takes effect on January 19 and sees the return of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of around 1,800 Palestinian detainees. Since then, more than 1,500 people are killed, according to the health ministry in the Palestinian territory to which Israel cuts off aid more than a month earlier.
