Remnants of the old sunken town of Pantabangan are reemerging at a reservoir as a result of a severe drought caused by extreme heat in Pantabangan, Philippines, on May 12, 2024. The 300-year-old settlement, which includes a church and several tombstones, is becoming a tourist attraction following a decline in water levels at the dam, caused by rising temperatures and exacerbated by the El Nino climate patterns. Other countries in Southeast Asia and East Asia are also experiencing hotter weather.

A withered tree is reemerging near the remnants of the old sunken town of Pantabangan at a reservoir, due to a severe drought caused by rising temperatures in the Philippines. This is the sixth time the 300-year-old settlement, which includes a church and several tombstones, has become visible, attracting tourists following a decline in water levels at the dam. The extreme heat, exacerbated by the El Nino climate patterns, is contributing to increasing weather patterns across Asia and Southeast Asia.
