A mother Olive Ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) digs her nest to lay eggs on Kuta beach on May 25, 2023, in Bali, Indonesia. Set up in 2002, A non-profit organization, the Bali Sea Turtle Society (BSTS), is leading the conservation program around Kuta beaches and is trying to raise public awareness regarding the protection of sea turtles. BSTS, together with the local community, rescues sea turtle eggs laid by the mother turtle along the Kuta beach and moves them to the hatchery center for a better survival rate. The Olive Ridley turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) are the predominant species laying eggs in Kuta Beach.
