Washington DC: Candlelight Vigil To Demand Justice In Bangladesh's Student Killings

A sign with the text ''All Eyes on Bangladesh'' is being seen during the Bangladeshi community's candlelight vigil on August 03, 2024, in the National Mall, Washington DC, USA, to support the Anti-Discriminatory Students Movement in Bangladesh. Participants are condemning the government for killing innocent and underage students. They are also demanding that current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been in power since 2009, step down. Initially, the student movement is starting to reform the country's quota system for government jobs. However, the protests are later resulting in bloodshed, with more than 250 people being killed, the majority by law enforcement agencies. (Photo by Aashish Kiphayet/NurPhoto)
