Candles and flowers commemorating the 12th anniversary of the presidential plane crash near Smolensk is seen by the Cross of Katyn in Krakow, Poland on April 11th, 2022. On 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft of the Polish Air Force crashed near the city of Smolensk, Russia, killing all 96 people on board. Among the victims were the President of Poland Lech Kaczyski and his wife Maria Kaczynska. In a view promoted by Antoni Macierewicz, a close ally of Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the crash was caused by explosion.
