During 'Operation Blue Star', the Indian Army storms the Golden Temple to flush out militants hiding there and to arrest Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his militant followers who initiate a movement for a separate Sikh state named 'Khalistan'. A large number of radical Sikh supporters are in the Sikh community in Canada, known for its fundraising activities to benefit Sikh militant groups in India and to continue the struggle for a separate Sikh state. Many Khalistan supporters and other Canadian Sikhs attend this Nagar Kirtan to celebrate Vaisakhi. Nagar Kirtan is a Sikh custom involving the processional singing of holy hymns throughout the community.

The IRGC Navy Martyr Hassan Bagheri warship and an IRGC speed boat are sailing along the Persian Gulf during the IRGC marine parade, which is commemorating the Persian Gulf National Day, near the Bushehr nuclear power plant in the seaport city of Bushehr, Bushehr province, in the south of Iran, on April 29, 2024. The Persian Gulf National Day, celebrated on the 10th of Ordibehesht in the Iranian calendar, usually falls in late April or early May and commemorates the expulsion of the Portuguese from the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf in 1622 by the Safavid forces led by Imam Quli Khan under the command of Shah Abbas I.
