An activist sits on a straw bale between Rebellion Extinction flags and an elephant-shaped sign that reads "6th Mass Extinction" on Monday, October 7, 2019, when several hundred environmental activists who are members of the international movement Extinction Rebellion (XR) launched the occupation of the Place du Chatelet and the Pont au Change in Paris in order to alert the population and the French and international authorities to the climatic urgency of the governments' inaction in the face of global warming. This action is part of the International Action Week, October International Rebellion (RIO) launched on Monday.
