Aegithina Tiphia In India
A female common iora (Aegithina tiphia) bird is holding onto the branch of a Lime tree with her legs and hanging downwards with her body like a gymnast in search of insect prey. The common iora is sexually dimorphic, with males in the breeding season having a black cap and back, in addition to a black wing and tail at all seasons. Females have greenish wings and olive tails. This colorful passerine bird can be seen in wooded areas, scrub, and cultivated lands of the tropical Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. This photo was taken in Tehatta, West Bengal, India on May 6th, 2023. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
