Long-Delayed Discovery: A Missile In Poland Sparks Questions And Investigations
RZESZOW, POLAND - MAY 13, 2023: Lieutenant general Tomasz Piotrowski, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, addresses the participants of the ANACONDA-23 military exercise at the Nowa Deba training ground on May 06, 2023 in Nowa Deba, Poland. (FILE PICTURE). A missile, believed to have been fired by Russia, landed on Polish territory in December 2022 but was only discovered over four months later. The incident was not reported to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki until April 2023, leading to questions about the government and military's handling of the situation. Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak has been blamed by Poland's opposition for the delay in finding the missile, but he has claimed that the operational commander of the armed forces was to blame. Military experts have now confirmed that the object was a Russian Kh-55 cruise missile. The incident occurred during a large-scale Russian missile barrage against Ukraine. A detailed report on the incident is expected in the coming days or weeks. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto)
