Animal India
The plum-headed parakeet (Psittacula cyanocephala) is a parakeet in the family Psittacidae. This brilliantly-colored parakeet is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. The plum-headed parakeet is a mainly green parrot, 33 cm long with a tail up to 22 cm. Plum-headed parakeets are found in flocks, the males having a pinkish purple head and the females, having a grey head. They fly swiftly with twists and turns accompanied by their distinctive calls. A couple of plum-headed parakeet birds play on the upper branches of a distant bamboo tree at dusk and are almost camouflaged by the color of the bamboo leaves at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 16/05/2023.
