Protest Public Transport in Brazil

São Paulo, Brazil; Jan 19th 2016 - For the forth time since last week, thousands of people protested in São Paulo, Brazil, against the raise in public transport fares, from R$ 3,50 to R$ 3,80. The demonstration was called by MPL (Free Pass Movement, in the portuguese acronym) and, after a brief concentration in the Pinheiros neighborhood, splitted into two: a group walked to the city hall (the city of São Paulo is responsible for the buses); another, smaller one, to the governor’s palace (the state of Sao Paulo holds the train and subway transport systems). At total, nearly 8.000 people rallied trough west side and downtown São Paulo (Photo by Gustavo Basso/NurPhoto)
