Pregnant Women's Death Renews Abortion Ban Controversy

People are seen at a vigil for the commemoration of the death of 34 year old Dorota in Warsaw, Poland on 01 June, 2023. On May 24th a 33 year old woman named Dorota died in a hospital in Nowy Targ following complications of her pregnancy. The next day, on Mother's Day the hospital announced her death. Her family has filed a case for wrongful death with the local prosecutor. Nearly half a dozen similar cases with terminal results have occurred since Poland further tightened its abortion laws.
