World Environment Day In Indonesia
A number of environmental activists wrap their bodies and mannequins in plastic during an action to commemorate World Environment Day in Surabaya, East Java, on June 6, 2023. In their action, they called on citizens to reduce the use of single-use plastics. In Indonesia, of the 19.45 million tons of waste in 2022, 18.4 percent was plastic waste (3.6 million tons). Meanwhile, only 9 percent of plastic waste can be recycled, the remaining 12 percent is burned and 79 percent ends up in landfills and pollutes the environment.
