Animal India

The Silkie (also known as the Silky or Chinese silk chicken) is a breed of chicken named for its atypically fluffy plumage, which is said to feel like silk and satin. The breed has several other unusual qualities, such as black skin and bones, blue earlobes, and five toes on each foot, whereas most chickens only have four. The breed is renowned for its broodiness and mothering abilities. Experts have issued warnings about Bird Flu, the rapidly changing nature of the virus causing record cases of H5N1 avian influenza in birds worldwide, and the risk of the next human pandemic. According to World Health Organization, the group of viruses has become considerably more infectious, resulting in year-round outbreaks and spreading to new areas. A farm owner takes the black Silkie chicken by hand and shows his specialty that distinguishes him from other chickens at Hanspukuria, West Bengal, India on 20/05/2023.
