Indonesian Baduy Tribes Request For Internet Cut Off
The Baduy people carry out their daily activities with simplicity and depend on nature in Ciboleger Village, Banten Province, on June 14 2023. Traditional leaders of the Baduy tribe asked the government to revoke internet network access from their territory, especially in the area of the Inner Baduy tribe, because gadgets such as smartphones and cameras are prohibited from being used in the Inner Baduy and certain areas in the Outer Baduy. This is done to protect the community, especially the younger generation of the Baduy tribe, from the impact of negative content due to internet use. The Baduy tribe is one of the tribes in Indonesia that still maintains ancestral traditions and closes itself from technological developments, especially the Inner Baduy tribe.
