YICHANG, CHINA - JUNE 27, 2023 - A ship passes through the Gezhouba dam shiplock in Yichang, Hubei province, China, June 27, 2023. According to the data released by the Three Gorges Navigation Administration of the Yangtze River, as of June 27, 2023, the Gezhouba lock has been open for 42 years, with a cumulative operation of 610,600 locks, a total of 2.652 million ships, 78.473 million passengers, and 2.12 billion tons of cargo passing through the lock, which can be converted into a 40-foot container that can circle the earth 24.8 times. Gezhouba Lock is the first large-scale lock on the Yangtze River trunk line and the first large-scale modern inland waterway lock managed by the transportation department.
