Yangtze River Water Level Falls

The water level of the Yangtze River is falling in Yichang, Hubei province, China, on July 3, 2023. The Ministry of Water Resources recently released the 2022 ''China River Sediment Bulletin'' which shows that for the Yangtze River, the summer of 2022 suffered the most severe meteorological drought since the complete meteorological observation records began in 1961, and serious regional dry water occurred during the flood season. In the upper reaches of the Three Gorges Reservoir, the inflow runoff and sediment transport are significantly lower than in previous years, while the middle and lower main stream channel runoff is significantly reduced and the sediment transport is the lowest value in history.
