Protest Public Transport in Brazil
Movimento Passe Livre (Free Pass Movement) called, this tuesday 26th January 2016, the sixth protest in three weeks against the raise in public transport fares in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from R$ 3,50 to R$ 3,80. Around 1,000 people attended to the demonstration which, in the previous hours, had a tension with the Security Secretary, who demanded the protesters to follow a predetermined route - what is not required by brazilian laws. The mob marched through downtown Sao Paulo without incidents. A new demonstration was called to thursday 28th, requiring the presence of Sao Paulo's mayor, Fernando Haddad, and governor, Geraldo Alckmin, to explain the reasons to raise the fares (Photo by Gustavo Basso/NurPhoto)
