The Xiaoqing River Test Ship Arrives Jinan Port

The Xiaoqing River test ship is arriving at the main city port area of Jinan Port in Jinan, Shandong province, China, on July 4, 2023. It has completed its first no-load trial in 26 years. With a history of nearly 900 years, Xiaoqing River is the only river in Shandong Province with multiple functions such as land and water transport, sea-river transport and farmland irrigation. Due to the acceleration of industrialization along the coast, the water quality of Xiaoqing River has deteriorated and the water volume has decreased, and the navigation was officially suspended in 1997. The resumption project was officially launched in 2020, with a total estimated investment of 13.6 billion yuan, making it the largest inland river project in Shandong port and navigation history. After the resumption of the Xiaoqing River, 164 berths in 11 operating areas of 4 ports are planned along the line, linking Jinan, Binzhou, Zibo, Dongying and Weifang five industrial cities.
