George VI was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death on 6 February 1952. British India Coins 1947 George VI was the last British Minted One Rupee before India's independence in 1947. This coin is an obverse Crowned head of George VI with the lettering ''GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR'' and in the reverse Bengal tiger (panthera tigris) with face value written in English, Hindi, and Urdu, year, and country.
