Saparu Festival Celebrated In Nepal

A youth is painting his face during the parade of the Saparu Festival or Cow Festival being celebrated in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal on Friday, September 1, 2023. On the occasion of Gai Jatra or Cow Festival, Nepalese people are celebrating by remembering their deceased ones and paying tribute to the departed souls. A cow is regarded as holy by Hindus, who believe it will help the deceased relative's journey to heaven (Photo by Narayan Maharjan/NurPhoto).
