Coridius Chinensis

Watermelon Bug. (Coridius cf. chinensis. ) is a genus of Dinidoridae bugs, and is a medicinal insect resource in China. Coridius chinensis is a crop pest that is also used as a traditional Chinese medicine to regulate breathing and relieve pain. Previous studies have indicated that the antibacterial and anticancer effects of the C. chinensis extract mainly come from the active polypeptides. Lysozyme is an effective immune effector in insect innate immunity and usually has excellent bactericidal effects. They suck sap mainly from plants belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae. It is one of the most important pests of watermelon in many African countries. This species is eaten in parts of South and Southeast Asia.
