Les Mées Solar Farm
The Mees Solar Park began operations at the end of 2011. Located in the hills of the La Colle des Mees plateau in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southern France, the Mees Solar Farm spans 200 hectares, hosting a total of 112,780 solar panels, making it the largest installation in France. Siemens Energy spearheaded this solar energy project, encompassing six turnkey photovoltaic solar power stations. It has a total electrical output of 100 MWc and supplies nearly 12,000 households with sustainable energy. Situated about 800 meters above sea level, this site enjoys some of the best conditions for producing photovoltaic solar energy in France. It boasts record sunlight exposure with a horizontal solar irradiation level of 1,550 kWh and a high air purity, translating into an energy yield that is 10 to 15% higher than average.
